ROCHESTER - On Wednesday, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., the Utilities Division for the Department of Public Works will turn off one of two transmission mains that deliver water to the city from the water treatment plant.

This shutdown is to allow for the installation of a new valve assembly, officials said in a statement on the city's website. This work may cause minor service disruptions such as reduced pressure and brief periods of discoloration in some locations throughout the city. This discoloration is from naturally occurring minerals that have precipitated in the water lines. If needed, run a cold water tap for a short time to clear the water.
