West Lebanon man arrested in Springvale assault case

SPRINGVALE, Maine - A Lebanon man was arrested on Saturday in an assault on a female that occurred in the Nasson Community Center parking lot in Sprinvale.

Police say they responded around 11:30 a.m. and after an investigation took into custody Keegan P. Whelan, 22, of 58 Sam Wentworth Road in West Lebanon. Whelan was charged with aggravated assault, a Class B felony that can carry up to a 10-year prison sentence.

Police say the victim reported Whelan placed his arm around her neck and applied pressure that impeded her breathing. He was transported to York County Jail without incident and faces an arraignment today.
