What's next? A law that will make men sit down to pee? Don't laugh, it just may be!

The urinals at Milford High School are already off-limits. (WMUR image)

Here it is Super Bowl Sunday and I'm talking urinals.
It's a sad, sad day.
But there is a football segue. Here it is.
I remember going to watch the Patriots at the old Schaefer Stadium back in the 1970s where going to the men's room was like going to see the movie "A River runs through it."
That's right, there were no urinals. There was just a manmade stream, that flowed wall to wall where men could relieve themselves during the half, or every quarter if they were drinking beers.
But now, if the current crazy bathroom policies put in place this week at Milford High School continue to evolve, there won't ever be any of those streams ever again. There won't even be urinals.
There will only be one "appropriate" unisex receptacle for your recycled brews. That would be the old trusty commode installed in an enclosed stall.
Now just think if Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., which holds almost 66,000 fans, had to retrofit all their urinals to single-occupant stalls. How much would that cost? How much would a ticket cost? How stupid can we get?
Well, it's Super Bowl Sunday. So let's go with the flow and agree we can get Super Stupid.
A decision to ban urinals at Milford High was approved by the local school board as part of a compromise after one board member proposed installing separate bathrooms and lockerrooms on the basis of students' gender at birth, a concept that was scorned by the majority of those who spoke during public comment who mostly wore rainbow flags.
The decision to ban the urinals passed by a 4-1 vote.
The vote also includes a change in locker room policy that now mandates students get dressed in private areas and not in a shared space. It also limits the number of students in a bathroom or locker room to the number of stalls it has.
To show their disapproval of the urinal removal about 150 students staged a walkout on Friday.
Besides being super stupid this idiocy is going to be super expensive and cumbersome for educators, especially phys ed teachers, who will see a student's actual exercise time being reduced drastically while everyone changes clothes for phys ed, showers after gym and gets dressed to go back to class.
I would hope that Milford's school board comes to its senses and revisits this policy, but I'm not betting the farm on it. Not even a plug nickel.
Imagine the associated costs if this nonsense rippled from Milford High to restaurants to concert venues to sports arenas.
Channeling The Music Man I leave you with this:

We got trouble my friend
Right here in River City
With a capital T
and that rhymes with pee
and it's just not cool
