In the 1980s, Tina Turner launched "one of the greatest comebacks in music history". Her 1984 multi-platinum album Private Dancer contained the hit song "What's Love Got to Do with It", which won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and became her first and only number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100. ~wikipedia
I was a senior in high school when Tina Turner hit number one with "What's Love Got to do With It" I was impressed when I went with my mom and future husband to see Tina Turner live. First of all this woman was the same age as my mother!! And she rose above the stage on a platform in Portland, Maine, I had never seen anything like it! This woman danced for over three hours, and in 6 inch stiletto heels! She was my new hero. She was a dynamo, and was on the top of her game. Her voice didn't miss one beat. My soon to be husband swore she was singing directly to him... She made everybody in the audience feel the music...who wouldn't be impressed? If you have not heard Tina passed away on Wednesday, our condolences go out to her family and fans everywhere. May she and my late husband be rocking heaven! 💃🏼
