ROCHESTER - A replacement for recently resigned city councilor Doug Lachance is expected to be selected by the council at its first meeting in June.
Those who would like to be considered for the Ward 1 Seat B slot will be able to file papers after the vacancy is posted following the board's formal acceptance of Lachance's resignation on May 4.
The council on Tuesday agreed that they would likely be allowing potential replacements to speak to the full board at their May 18 meeting.

Rochester City Clerk Kelly Walters said today the chance for candidates to speak at the May 18 meeting is not set in stone as the council is in full budget-talks mode, however that is the plan as of now.

Ward 1 comprises a large section of East Rochester all the way north to Saks Mobile Home Park as well as a broad swath headed south on either side of Salmon Falls Road.

Lachance officially resigned from the position on April 14 about a month after police say they reopened a sexual assault investigation from 2007 that involved a 16-year-old boy.
Lachance has denied the allegations and did so again in his letter of resignation.
In a 2007 police affidavit, Andy Brooks, 37, of Colorado, who grew up in Rochester, alleges Lachance made inappropriate sexual advances to him when he was a teenager.
Brooks told investigators in 2007 that most of the abuse occurred in the spring of 2001.
The 2007 case fizzled after the main complainant - identified as Brooks in a police affidavit - decided not to move forward with the charges.
