DOVER - William A. Carroll, 93 of Dover died Wednesday August 1, 2018 at Webster at Rye.
Mr. Carroll, a son of Howard W. and Therese (Hall) Carroll, was born in Bridgewater, Mass. on July 12, 1925, and had been living in Dover since 1955. Mr. Carroll graduated from Bridgewater High School, class of '43 and Wentworth Institute, Boston, Mass. He also attended the University of New Hampshire.
He was employed by Simplex Wire and Cable Co. in Newington from 1953 to 1983 retiring as a Technical Assistant in Quality Control and as a Pier Superintendent.
He was a member of Humane Lodge No. 21, Orient Council No. 12, and Palestine Commandry, No. 11 all of Rochester. He was also a member of the Dover Senior Center, The South Berwick, Maine Senior Center, The Good Ole Sports of Rochester and the Widowed Support Group of Southern New Hampshire (Dover), where he had held the office of Vice President and Treasurer.
He enjoyed sailing, line and ballroom dancing, and all types of music, especially playing the keyboard and the harmonica.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie L. (Henderson) Carroll in 1990.
He is survived by his sons, David Carroll and his wife, Mary Jane (Shea) of Strafford and Thomas Carroll and his wife, Janet (Hogan) of North Hampton; a brother, Robert Carroll and his wife, Dorothy (Smith) Carroll of Wilmington, N.C.; six grandchildren: Andrew of Newfields, Jennifer of Enfield, and Jill of Holderness, and Hilary Carroll McGuire of Swampscott, Mass., Thomas of Simsbury, Conn., and Eric of Raleigh, N.C.; four great grandchildren and several cousins and many nieces and nephews.
He was also predeceased by his dear loving friend and companion, Toni Kretsepes of Dover.
He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends.
