A wind advisory is in effect for the Greater Rochester area through 7 p.m. tonight with gusts predicted of up to 55 mph.

Winds will be mostly out of the northwest with steady winds of 15 to 30 mph.

The wind advisory covers portions of south central, southwest, west central, and western Maine and central, northern, and southern New Hampshire.

The strong winds and gusts are likely to down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects, according to Accuweather meteorologists. Some trees and power lines will likely be downed as well with the possibility of power outages.
