Woodstock fisherman ID'd as victim in river drowning

MONROE - A Woodstock man has been identified as the victim of an April drowning near Nine Island in Monroe.

Jonathan Zukowski, 31, of Woodstock, and two other anglers were fishing near the junction of the Passumpsic and Connecticut rivers when he noticed their boat was drifting away and attempted to retrieve it.

Despite attempts to throw him a life jacket, he went underwater and did not resurface.

On Tuesday around 3:45 p.m. New Hampshire Fish and Game personnel located and recovered Zukowski's body along the shores of the Connecticut River in Monroe.
