CANTERBURY - A Gilford man was arrested late Friday night after police say he was spotted driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 93.

Police got involved after receiving multiple reports around 11:50 p.m. between mile markers 53 and 49 in the towns of Northfield and Canterbury.

Just before midnight a state trooper located the vehicle at mile marker 46.8 in the town of Canterbury as it was approaching the trooper's cruiser head-on around a bend in the roadway. The trooper was able to successfully stop the motor vehicle in the left lane and made contact with the lone operator, who was identified as Zachary William Bunker, 40, of Gilford.

Bunker was arrested for reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, driving while intoxicated, and reckless driving.

He was bailed and released and is due to appear at the Merrimack Superior Court on Dec. 28.
