LONDONDERRY - A Hampstead woman was arrested on DWI and reckless conduct charges after driving the wrong way on Interstate 93 early Sunday.

Police caught up with her a little after 5 a.m. after receiving reports of a wrong way driver headed north in the southbound lanes from the Massachusetts border.

The initial caller placed the vehicle in the wrong direction near mile marker 6.8 in Windham. Additional callers reported the vehicle was continuing to travel in the wrong direction.

While Trooper Kevin Gazlay responded from the Manchester area, another caller placed the vehicle at exit 4. Gazlay continued south and was eventually able to successfully intercept the vehicle at mile marker 13.6 in Londonderry, stopping the driver from continuing further.

The driver was identified as Stephanie McPhee, 31, of Hampstead. She was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and reckless conduct - deadly weapon.

McPhee is scheduled to appear in Derry District Court in May. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Trooper Kevin Gazlay at (603)-223-4381 or Kevin.J.Gazlay@dos.nh.gov.
