Another bail jumping scofflaw headed for arraignment today in Superior Court

ROCHESTER - Rochester Police on Thursday arrested a Rochester woman on four active EBWs, including one for bail jumping, further spotlighting flaws in New Hampshire's recent bail reform efforts.

Stacy Barrett, 44, was also taken into custody in connection with a Superior Court bench warrant - called a capias - on a drug possession charge.

She was transported to Strafford County Jail as a result of the Superior Court warrant and is scheduled to be arraigned today.

The state's recent bail reform package sought to take cash out of the equation when it comes to determining who gets to await trial out on bail instead of in jail.

However, many in the justice system including district attorneys and police say they have seen far too many of those out on bail either reoffend or fail to make scheduled court appearances.
