Motorcyclist severely injured in Rochester crash

ROCHESTER - A motorcyclist was severely injured Tuesday night when he apparently lost control of the bike while exiting the Spaulding Exit 11 off ramp onto Old Dover Road.

A 1997 Suzuki GSF was found several yards from the rider, who was attended to by emergency personnel before being airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.

The accident occurred around 6:45 and forced the closure of Old Dover Road from the off ramp of Exit 11 to the entrance to the Rochester Department of Public Works while emergency personnel attended to the victim.

The injured driver’s name was not released.

The Strafford County Regional Accident Reconstruction Team was called to investigate the accident.  The involved area of Old Dover Road was closed three and half hours.       

The accident remains under investigation by the Rochester Police Department. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Rochester Police Department at 330-7127.
